Grown-up Toys....

We spent 5 hours on Saturday buying a new toy!! We decided to trade in my 2004 Jetta for the 2006 model. Th engineers really went back to the drawing board on this one. K has been drooling for several months, but we had agreed that we wouldn't trade in his Ford Explorer Sport until after we knew if I would be SAHM or not. If I become a SAHM, then we'll keep it a while longer. If not, then we'll trade it for a more fuel efficient vehicle. A week ago Saturday, K was telling me about all the new standard features of the 2006 Jetta and some of the newer options available. I suggested maybe we consider trading in my car since we still have a payment on it and we aren't too far into the principal. This got his wheels turning. LOL! I framed out the parameters that he had to stay within to get my full support and Keith set to work "wheeling and dealing" with the sales rep. After a week, we came to an agreement that we all could live with. We took the car for a test run on Saturday. You'd think that b/c they had been discussing this all week that we'd be able to to get in and out quickly. NOT! It was a very looooooong 5 hours of paperwork and stuff. *sigh* Good thing they had water, coffee, and pastries. My FIL's nose is out of joint b/c we bought another large item while he was out of town. Makes my just laugh how he thinks the boys should only make large purchases after 1) consulting him and 2) only when he's in town (which is only 6 months of the year). He'll live. Here are the features that make our new toy a sweeeeet ride: - Front, side and curtain airbags - 5 more inches in the back seat for Little Ladybug's carseat - 16cu ft trunk space - 6-speed AutoTrans with Tiptronic (this will be wonderful in the winter to give more control over the gears). - 6 disc CD Player w/10 speakers (lost my cassette deck) - An arm rest (you'd be amazed at how much we missed this on the 2004 Jetta) - 21 air vents!! This means the back seats will be warm/cool and they put one near the foot by the door. No more cold feet on frigid days. - Antennea in the rear window. No more snapping it off when shoveling snow off the roof - Finally a car with a temp guage so I know what the temps are. - Independent suspension. Makes the bumps easier on my body. There's more, but you get the idea. LOL!! It's a really sweet car.
