A blessed Saturday with friends!!
Well, if i was wondering last night why my hands and feet hurt so bad that I could have sworn they were broken, I need to no longer. I woke up this morning to our first *real* snowfall. It dumped today. Yet that didn't stop B from driving in from the valley and joining me and S for a day on the town.
We met at my house (thankfully as I had to drag myself out of bed) and we left about 10am. K told me to enjoy my first Saturday in months. LOL!! I don't think he really realized that I would take that one to the bank and cash it in. Poor dear thought I'd be home in the early afternoon.
We had a grand time. We parked at the mall and walked to the Craft Emporium Show. Nothing new--over priced cute stuff that we could make cheaper if we had the time. Then we checked out this little store that I always wanted to check out. Had old time candies. It was cool. I'll have to remember that next time I want some old fashioned stuff.
Then we went to lunch at the Brewhouse. They make the most wonderful blue cheese salads with carmelized pecans and red grapes. YUM!! The waitress was wonderful! She noticed that B was PG (due in Dec) and S told her that she was and wanted a homemade Ginger Ale (they make awesome rootbeer, cream soda, and ginger ale) for her m/s. I told her that I was "paper pg" and adopting from China. She took it all in and didn't miss a beat as she treated us all wonderfully. She asked us all questions about our "pregnancies" and even wrote it on the order ticket and told them to rush our order. It was wonderful to get the special treatment that PG women get.
We learned that she is a retired school teacher with 4 kids (oldest 18yo, but she didn't look old enough to have a child that old and I told her that). She now waitresses and works for the Airline (flight benefits). She earned herself a good tip that day.
Then we checked out JcPenney's. They didn't have the nursery set that they had online. *sigh* S and I went around the baby section going back and forth from being excited to being scared (she m/c in Jan) it wouldn't come true. We both are going through the "this is really going to happen, isn't it" phase. I have to say, that while our circumstances are different, it's nice to have some one who understands IRL. I found some cute shirts for DNephew for Christmas. We helped B find some cute PJ's and Christmas outfits for her kids.
Then we walked up to the Food Court and got something to drink (I needed meds and S needed fluids--horrid m/s). We sat there and talked for a couple of hours. We chatted about vacationing as families after S and I have our babies, about dealing with husbands, surviving miscarriages, and how wonderful (or not wonderful) our doctors are. It was wonderful to sit uninterrupted and share our hearts without judgement.
Then we stopped in Gymboree (cute but $$$$$) and Motherhood Maternity. It was about then that B's husband called and reminded us that the temperature was dropping, so I told the girls we needed to head home. We arrived at my house to a very worried K!! I had forgotten my cell phn and he didn't know that we had B's listed in the book by the phone. I guess he was about ready to come looking for us. Oops.
It was a day all three of us needed and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
